On the morning of July 10th, 2010, 150 people assembled at the corner of 8th St. and Irolo St. in Wilshire Center/Koreatown to conduct a neighborhood cleanup. Two teams armed with brooms, trash bags, and graffiti removal supplies left from that location at 9AM. One team headed west down 8th St. towards Western Ave. and the other headed east towards Vermont Ave. The two teams removed weeds, picked up all items of trash and eliminated all graffiti in sight. This event was organized by WCBID, UDLA, CRA/LA and the LAPD Olympic Station.
The Wilshire Center Business Improvement District (WCBID), Unification of Disabled Latin Americans (UDLA), and the Community Redevelopment Agency of Los Angeles (CRA/LA) would like to thank the many individuals and organizations that made this Neighborhood Cleanup possible.
Much appreciation goes to the LAPD Olympic Station, KYCC, the Wilshire Enhancement Group, PAVA, California Fun Zone, the Olympic C-PAB, the WCKNC, the Lions Club, People in Progress, ESCC LA, Portals, Los Angeles City Councilmember Herb Wesson, all the businesses, residents and constituents of the Wilshire Center community along 8th Street, plus the invaluable police officers, participants, supporters and volunteers for co-creating this event.
Special thanks to LAPD SLO James Chong for his hard work & dedication.
