On the morning of June 12th, 2010, 300 people assembled at the LAPD Olympic Station on Vermont Ave. and walked down Olympic Blvd. to Seoul International Park to show unity in their efforts to stop crime, gangs, violence, graffiti and drugs. The people of the Wilshire Center/Koreatown community could be heard for miles chanting anti-violence chants in Bengali, English, Korean and Spanish.
This event was organized by UDLA, CRA/LA, WCBID and the LAPD Olympic Station.
The Unification of Disabled Latin Americans (UDLA), the Community Redevelopment Agency of Los Angeles (CRA/LA) and the Wilshire Center Business Improvement District (WCBID) would like to thank the many individuals and organizations that made this Peaceful March Against Crime and Drugs possible.
Much appreciation goes to the LAPD Olympic Station, LAFD, the Wilshire Enhancement Group, the Department of Rec & Parks, PAVA, KADC, Little Bangladesh, Texis Restaurant, OPNC, the Los Angeles City Council, all the businesses, residents and constituents of the Koreatown community along Olympic Blvd., plus the invaluable police officers, participants, supporters and volunteers for co-creating this celebration.
Special thanks to Ruben Hernandez for his inspirational leadership.
