
IN HONOR OF OUR FIREFIGHTERS AND POLICE OFFICERS
LOS ANGELES (September 11, 2010, 10:00 AM) – Hundreds of people from the business, residential, government, youth, disabled and non-profit communities of Los Angeles will gather at Seoul International Park (3250 San Marion Street, Los Angeles, CA 90006) to conduct a Neighborhood Clean-Up. Two teams armed with brooms, trash bags, and graffiti removal supplies will leave from the southwest corner of San Marino Street and Irolo Street at 10:00 AM led by the LAPD Olympic Station, LAFD Fire Station 13, LAFD Fire Station 29 and community leaders. One team will head westbound down Olympic Blvd. towards Western Ave and the other will head eastbound towards Vermont Ave. The two teams will pick up all items of trash and eliminate all graffiti in sight. Both teams will then head back down on the other side of Olympic Blvd. and converge together again at Seoul Internationl Park.
This event is being organized by the Unification of Disabled Latin Americans (UDLA), the Community Redevelopment Agency of Los Angeles (CRA/LA), the Wilshire Center Business Improvement Corporation (WCBIC); with support from the Wilshire Center-Koreatown Neighborhood Council (WCKNC), the LAPD Olympic Station and the LAFD. The purpose of this event is to bring together all ethnic groups of Los Angeles to unite in one force to stand up against littler and graffiti. Assisted by the LAPD and LAFD, participants will rid Olympic Blvd. of all blight and positively encourage on lookers to get involved along the way. This specific event will have the added benefit of beautifying and enhancing the area for the upcoming Korean Festival and Parade 2010. This clean up will bring out the best in Angelinos and represent what happens when people unite for a cause for the common good.
Once participants arrive back at Seoul International Park there will be sense of fun and camaraderie as everyone will mix and mingle in the auditorium while they enjoy listing to a few words from our elected officials, community leaders, fire fighters and police officers. Refreshments will be served.
