Wilshire Center District Team’s Activities

Last quarter, the Clean Team collected 2,652 bags of trash (60,996 lbs.), dispensed approximately 4,000 doggie bags, removed 41 bulky items, completed 2 hours of pressure washing, and removed 10 graffiti tags on sidewalk pots, poles, and news racks. The crew is out every Monday and Thursday sweeping the sidewalks, picking up trash, clearing gutters and painting out graffiti from street poles, news racks, and flower planters. The team services 60 trashcans throughout the District. For over 24 year the WCBID has been creating pathways to self-sufficiency for homeless and low-income individuals by providing the resources and support needed to find and retain employment. The Clean Team creates jobs that directly contribute back to our community and give people an opportunity to enhance their lives through meaningful and impactful employment.

Last quarter, the bike team assisted the City in getting over 620 bulky items picked up, made 209 calls/reports to the City for street services (311), assisted in getting 401 graffiti tags cleaned up, and 29 potholes reported and fixed. The team responded to 263 calls for assistance to property owners, managers, stakeholders, pedestrians, LAPD and others. They issued 72 illegal vendor warnings, assisted 493 homeless individuals, provided 407 homeless encampment outreach opportunities and removed 359 illegal signs. The team addressed the subject of 278 belligerent individuals and 87 drinking in public. The team captain attended 5 LAPD crime control meetings.

The WCBIC continues its efforts to work with the HOPE Team, LAHSA, DMH, and the Bridge Home Project to continue addressing homelessness in the District.

Last quarter, the vehicle patrol noted 692 instances of suspicious activity, made 280 calls/reports to the City for street services (311), assisted the City in getting 20 graffiti tags cleaned up and reported 72 damaged street lights. The team responded to 28 calls for assistance to property owners, managers, stakeholders, pedestrians, LAPD and others. The team addressed the subject of 53 belligerent individuals and 99 drinking in public. The team collaborated with LAPD and/or LAFD on 13 instances.

The landscape crew for the District’s Wilshire streetscape continues to maintain all 15 medians and about 150 flower pots along Wilshire Blvd. The work consists of removal of trash, trimming of plants, watering of plants, repairing the sprinkler system, and replacing damaged plants.

The Wilshire Center BID hosted a very successful Spring Business Mixer at 8th Notch in the Platform 35 Markethall last month.

THE WILSHIRE CENTER BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT CORPORATION

Advisory Board of the Wilshire Center Business Improvement District

The Annual Meeting of the assessed establishments and assessees in the Wilshire Center Business Improvement District will be held on Thursday, August 29, 2019. Coffee and donuts will be served at 8:00 a.m. and the meeting will begin at 8:30 a.m.

The meeting will take place at Southwestern Law School, Bullocks Wilshire Building, 5th Floor in the Salle Moderne Room, 3050 Wilshire Blvd., Los Angeles.

This is a forum for assessed owners and other members of the District to familiarize themselves with the functions of the Corporation and to express their concerns and desires to the Corporation?s representatives.

AGENDA FOR MEETING:
1. Call to order, introductions and public comments.

2. 2019 and 2020 WCBID Program overview of maintenance, security, marketing, and other programs. For an update visit www.wilshirecenter.com.

3. Elect the Directors of the Corporation for a term commencing August 29, 2019, and continuing for one (1) year or until their successors are elected.

4. To transact such other business as may properly come before the meeting.
